My latest (fourth) book of my poetry, "Poetry Books Don't Sell", is available at present on Kindle at Amazon.com for $2.99 as an e-book. Members of Amazon Prime may download it for free for the next few days.

I have ordered a proof copy of the print version through Lulu Press. After I receive it, if it checks out okay, then "Poetry Books Don't Sell!" will become available as a print version at Lulu and through on-line booksellers, such as Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble.com, and others.

Please help me spread the word about my new book. Please tell your family, your friends, your neighbors, your co-workers, complete strangers, etc. about this wonderful new poetry book that offers hours of great, entertaining reading. I'd surely appreciate it!

Poetry Books Don't Sell!

I will be publishing a new (my fourth) collection of my poetry soon. It should be available on Kindle and Nook as an e-book first, followed by a print book through Lulu Press in a few weeks. I have chosen the title of "Poetry Books Don't Sell!" This is a truism in the publishing world. Most agents and publishing firms won't accept poetry as a submission. Poetry books tend to be mostly self-published, and, no matter how good the poetry contained is, no one much buys the books. This is a pity because most readers would enjoy reading poetry and would be surprisingly entertained if only they would give it a try.

My new book, "Poetry Books Don't Sell!", contains storoems and poems addressing a variety of topics. It has ninety of my storoems and poems all together: 43 rhyming storoems (story-poems), 6 acrostic poems, 5 political poems, 29 free-verse poems, and 7 of my older poems (prize-winning and personal favorites).

Pythons are spreading in Florida ... maybe even to Louisiana!

I read in today's Shreveport Times that giant Burmese pythons, which grow up to twenty feet in length and weigh up to 250 pounds and eat everything "from birds to mammals (muskrats, rabbits, cats, dogs, deer, etc.) to alligators", are spreading farther throughout Florida. A recent study revealed that even newly hatched pythons can survive an average of a month in full-strength seawater and older snakes can survive many months swimming across seawater. This means there is no physical barrier (seawater) to stop the spread of the pythons from the Everglades and Keys, where they are now thriving, farther up the coast line, maybe eventually to other Gulf Coast states, even to Louisiana and Texas. It had been hoped that being unable to survive swimming in the open seawater would prevent them from spreading. Not so! Bummer.

Darned If I Can Figure It Out!

7 January 2012 Update: The trailer for A & A is now at 1,528 ... and still no sales to speak of. Seems strange to me.

My trailer for Aldric & Anneliese has 1,445 hits, while there are 241 readers on Goodreads who have had Aldric & Anneliese on their 'to-read list' for months now. Yet ... yet, no one is purchasing the book! Neither the paperback nor e-book (at both Kindle Store at Amazon.com and at Barnes and Noble's Nook Store) version is selling.

Aldric & Anneliese has gotten very good reviews: 4.17 average from 12 ratings on Goodreads and 5 stars average from 10 reviews on Amazon. The last review at Goodreads on Dec 6th read, "Short and sweet. A classic tale of Kings and knights. Betrayal, action and romance, this book had it all. Very pleasantly surprised."

Not only women readers, but both teenage boys and men, will enjoy this medieval action-adventure novel ... if only I could get them to read it.

Books make great presents to round out your Christmas shopping, especially for hard-to-buy-for male readers. Just thought I'd mention it! :-)

A 1930s Christmas to Remember -- My entry to short story contest

Today I entered the short story contest at Lulu Press. (It really is for flash fiction because the maximum number of words allowed is only 600. As I understand flash fiction, the term now defines prose pieces between 300 and 1,000 words, although there is no consensus of the allowable upper maximum. Some people place the maximum at only 600 words. Short stories are longer, running 2,000 to 3,000 words usually.)

Book Trailer for Aldric and Anneliese Now Has 1,000-plus Hits

My book trailer for my latest novel "Aldric and Anneliese", a historical fiction action-adventure love story, has recently received its 1,004-th 'hit'. I never expected that many views. However, despite the large number of viewing for the book's trailer, there has been a paucity of sales for Aldric and Anneliese. Any ideas why that might be? I can tell you the lack of sales is rather disheartening.
